A quick trivial note on a minor matter of displeasure, a cry of the heart/venting, and yes that is French for "sausage factory" or so the internet tells me :) There is enormous amounts of noise and little good high quality information about the war on Iran including surrounding matters such as a somewhat controversial or unwelcome abstention on the part of Russia and China in a recent UN Security Council (UNSC) vote concerning itself with said war. I do not know the details (such as whether the vote was/is important or unimportant) and have essentially zero spare time but wanted to voice a quick observation. If any explanation is needed (it may or may not be) it could easily be —as the title suggests— a case of diplomatic sausage making. That doesn't make it better or worse but it could be the explanation (although not much of an excuse in itself). After all if any "salad" should be (in)famous for sausages it should be the "salades géopolitique" :P Personally I don't like it (if i wanted bs there is no shortage of supply anywhere) but I imagine Russia and China have several small states in the region screaming at them to "do something". That too, if in fact a fact which it might not be, does not imply any absolution but an appraisal of the hypothetical exigency (channeling Sir Humphrey Appleby of "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister"). Nothing but a (dissonant) note of context and ugly realism, however I don't see why or how the matter should appeal to anyone or why anyone should jump at the opportunity to defend it (subservient pledges of blind allegiance are unbecoming). stopgap.bearblog.dev
